What the National Sea Rescue Institute does.NSRI is manned by more than 1350 unpaid volunteers at over 50 rescue bases, including satellite or auxiliary stations and inland dams. In addition, more than 20 Lifeguard Units have been established around the country. We mobilize for swift-water and flooding scenarios, fires on vessels, and medical evacuations off ships and coastal clifftops. We assist commercial trawlers and leisure yachts. We activate for fishermen, swimmers, anglers, hikers, paddlers and surfers. Families and communities are impacted emotionally and economically when lives are lost. Through water-safety education and active rescue, we can save lives, change lives and create futures. |
Who is St Luke’s Combined Hospices?St Luke’s Combined Hospice was established in 1980 providing palliative care to patients after facing a variety of incurable and life-threatening illnesses and diseases. By caring for the dying, the dedicated caregivers of St Luke’s Combined Hospices bring life and loving care to over 650 patients a day. The organization’s unique and holistic approach has made it a national leader in palliative care. St Luke’s Combined Hospices is not a place where people only go to die. It’s a caring and compassionate environment that focuses on quality of life, on making every moment count, no matter how many of those moments are left. This support is given, irrespective of the patient’s ability to pay for the service, and regardless of race or religion. |
